I would like to fully like this place. I think they take things too far. I have brought them $$$ of business from friends and coworkers. I bring over a dozen friends and paid well. One bar guy thinks I have told him to F off. So he tells me I should leave. (This is after I have tipped well) This is the second time. I don't think I will recommend to friends to bring there hard earned money here. The management and owner are clueless. About hospitality.
Ron Tom's is my favorite place in Portland, period. If I'm looking for dinner, just a drink, or going out, it always seems to fit whatever I'm looking for. The space itself is worth checking out. The indoors has a hip rustic spacious feel that is comfortable and fun. The best part about Ron Tom's is their massive outdoor patio. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the biggest outdoor patio in the city. It's massive. One night me and a coworker got off work and we wanted a drink and a bite to eat so I suggested Ron Tom's. Not only were they open, but they were playing an old 70's movie projected on an outside wall for everyone to watch. They even had free popcorn! It was the perfect thing to do after a long day of work. The food is always delicious and fresh, the service is always friendly and attentive. Every time I've gone I've gotten a different server and they have all been awesome. I used to live in NYC where all I did was go out to restaurants and bars and I've had a difficult time finding places that impress me in PDX, but this place most certainly has. I love it. I hope everyone that works there realizes how cool and original this place really is. Good work people!
