We are looking for a Database Administrator (Job# FTE004). This is a mid-level position with responsibility for maintenance and support of Chockstone’s production databases and support of the systems and applications which run and utilize those databases. Systems are predominantly MySQL running on Sun Solaris Unix servers.
Job Responsibilities
• Install software, apply patches, manage databases and file systems, identify and resolve hardware issues.
• Monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and internally developed monitoring tools.
• System failure analysis and recovery; ensuring the consistency and integrity of databases and file systems.
• Manage and lead hardware an software configuration, migration and upgrade efforts of varying size and complexity
• Technical support and general troubleshooting servers in a 24x7 data center
• Complete other Database Administrator tasks as assigned.
Skills Required
• In-depth knowledge of MySQL running on Solaris
• Experience with Query optimization and DB performance tuning
• Experience with clustering and high-availiability systems
• Strong skills in database monitoring and support
• Command-line administration skills required
• Shell programming expertise
• Attention to detail
• Can work independently and in a team environment.
Education / Experience
Required:
• Production database administration experience a must
• Minimum 3 years professional systems maintenance experience in a Unix data center environment.
• Understanding of software development practices and software languages highly recommended
• Familiarity with Java-based applications, XML data formats and n-tier topologies preferred
• An Associate’s degree or higher preferred
