Editorial Intern
Portland, OR • 08/21/2007
Oregon Bride, a regional publication for brides across the state, is looking for a few good interns.
Duties:
The intern has a great deal of responsibility for helping with the daily workings of getting a magazine together, including fact checking, finding photos and information, writing, proofing, attending photo shoots, pulling and returning merchandise associated with photo shoots, creating reference lists. A professional manner, the ability to follow directions with minimal supervision, and general Internet skills are key to success at this job. The intern also takes on writing assignments, depending on ability and need. Working closely with the editor and other staff members, the intern gets a close-up view of how a magazine is put together, from concept to delivery.
You will be working remotely with one day a week spent at the office. To that end, you need to be very efficient and a self-starter--i.e., work without lots of supervision.
Requirements
Applicants must have some school or job experience in publications, preferably in editorial capacities. Preference is given to higher levels of experience and ability.
Interns must be Mac-proficient, and preferably work on or own a Mac.
The selected intern must be available to work 3 days a week, starting in late August and ending in late November. Days are flexible, but since we count on the intern to be here when needed, schedules will be firmly set at the beginning of the internship.
If opportunities present themselves, the intern will be asked to accompany the editor to photo sessions, trade shows, meetings with sources, and assorted scouting missions for the magazine.
