Job Purpose: Buy direct and indirect materials and services.
Primary Job Customers: Materials, Production, Service, Suppliers, Engineering

Essential Job Duties:
1. Originate and ensure the timely, accurate fulfillment of direct and indirect purchase orders. Commodities include electronics, mechanical component and MRO.
2. Research cost / availability / quality options as directed.
3. Perform Purchasing tasks as assigned, including exception report review and action, spot buys to support New Product Introduction, blanket releases, and expediting.
Special Notes:
• Participates on cost reduction initiatives
• May be called upon for special projects which exceed the scope of the day-to-day responsibilities, including assistance with inventory, supplier improvement initiatives, change management, MRP-related file maintenance.
• Provide back-up to other Materials department roles as directed
Qualifications
Required Experience and Education:
• 2 years of experience in purchasing in a manufacturing environment
• Associates degree in business or technically related field.
Required Skills/Knowledge/Characteristics:
• Ability to quickly learn and implement skills necessary for effective operation of the Jr. Buyer role.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, as an independent contributor and as a team member.
• Demonstrated reliable delivery on personal commitments
• Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook. Experience in an MRP environment preferred.
