General Description of Duties: To work in partnership with team members, school staff, community volunteers, youth and parents to coordinate and implement an after school enrichment program aimed to achieve Camp Fires and Hillsboro Parks and Recreations mission and outcomes.
Examples of Work:
Direct supervision of 3 other part-time staff members in conjunction with program partners
Facilitate youth participation in enrichment activities
Coordinate recruitment and retention of program participants and volunteers
Coordinate field trips logistics (permission slips, transportation)
Oversee curriculum planning and implementation (homework, service-learning, recreation/sports, arts and crafts)
Oversee discipline of students (behavior contracts, parent/school staff contact)
Coordinate team meetings for planning and debriefing activities
Coordinate attendance tracking (unexcused absences, early releases etc.)
Coordinate and implement BLAST training for new staff
Develop and maintain relationship with school principal, teachers, and school counselors
Establish and maintain relationships with youth, parents, and school staff
Assist management in evaluating progress toward outcomes
Recommend program adjustments as appropriate
Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge and skills required to implement a work plan
Knowledge of current youth development theories/approaches and child/adolescent development
Knowledge of basic principles regarding group work and facilitation, conflict resolution, and behavior management
Training and public speaking skills
Ability to work in and facilitate a team environment
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Ability to maintain focus and energy throughout the program year
Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with youth
Ability to consult and involve youth in a variety of participatory roles

Acceptable Experience and Training:
Education or training equal to the knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position
A minimum of two years experience working with youth 6-12 years of age
Background that indicates a working knowledge of youth development and programming
Experience that indicates individuals commitment to viewing the client as a resource
Compensation: $12.50 - $13.50 @ 25-30 hours a week
Work Schedule: Ten (10)-month position, early September mid June, approximately 1:00 5:30 p.m.
